Watch: Creepy 2-Minute Horror Short 'Drip' Directed by Brian Lipko

Drip Short Film

It's the middle of the night, it's dark, the light in the hall doesn't work, you need to run to the bathroom. Can you make it? Drip is a two-minute short film directed by filmmaker Brian Lipko, who has been making a number of impressive short films in the last few years (see his Vimeo page). It's about a young boy who is afraid of the dark, but is there actually something out there? We've featured a number of excellent 2-minute horror short films before, including Salt and Tap just last year. It's tough to make the horror elements work well in two minutes, but these filmmakers are proving it's possible to pull that off and give us a good scare.

Thanks to Brian for the tip on this. Original description from Vimeo: "A boy. A bathroom. The middle of the night." That's all you need to know about it. Drip is directed by LA-based visual artist / filmmaker Brian Lipko - see more of his work on Vimeo. You can also follow him on Twitter @BrianLipko or visit his official website. Written by Kyle P. Nolan & Brian Lipko, produced by Kyle P. Nolan. Featuring cinematography by Jack Nitz. This was made independently by production company Meanwhile. Starring Mason Wells as the boy. Horror 'Hallowed Ground' Trailer Puts Us in the Middle of a Blood Feud

Hallowed Ground Trailer

"Our neighbors are vehemently possessive of their land…" Uncork'd Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Hallowed Ground, the latest from filmmaker Miles Doleac (of The Historian, The Hollow, Demons). Described as "in the tradition of The Green Inferno and Deliverance," the film is about a married couple that travels to a secluded cabin in hopes of rebuilding their relationship. They stumble into a blood feud between the Native American owners of the property and the neighboring clan, who obsessively guard their land and punish those who trespass on it in terrifying ways. Starring Ritchie Montgomery, Lindsay Anne Williams, Sherri Eakin, Miles Doleac, Jeremy Sande, and Cotton Yancey. Looks a bit too extreme and cult-ish and masochistic for my tastes, but horror fans may be into it.

Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Miles Doleac's Hallowed Ground, direct from YouTube:

Official Trailer for Amazing Springsteen Musical 'Blinded by the Light'

Blinded by the Light Trailer

"I can feel it all right here! It's like Bruce knows everything I've ever felt." Warner Bros has unveiled the first trailer for Chadha's Blinded by the Light, the triumphant, instant-classic musical comedy about a teen from England who loves Bruce Springsteen. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to universal acclaim, being heralded as the next great indie musical following Sing Street. Inspired by a true story, based on Sarfraz Manzoor's acclaimed memoir, the film is about a Pakistani boy named Javed who finds his own voice and his own identity after being introduced to Bruce Springsteen growing up in the 1980s. Blinded by the Light stars Viveik Kalra as Javed, plus Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Ganatra, Nell Williams, Aaron Phagura, Hayley Atwell, and Dean-Charles Chapman. This was one of my favorite films from Sundance this year (here's my full review), it's so wonderful and will leave you with a huge smile.

Here's the first official trailer for Gurinder Chadha's Blinded by the Light, direct from YouTube:

Blinded by the Light Movie

Blinded by the Light is a joyful story of courage, love, hope, family and the unique ability of music to lift the human spirit. The film tells the true story of Javed (Viveik Kalra), a British teen of Pakistani descent growing up in the town of Luton, England, in 1987. Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his town and the inflexibility of his traditional father. But when a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in the powerful lyrics. As Javed discovers a cathartic outlet for his own pent-up dreams, he also begins to find the courage to express himself in his own unique voice. Blinded by the Light is directed by Kenya-British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, director of the films Bhaji on the Beach, What's Cooking?, Bend It Like Beckham, Bride & Prejudice, Angus Thongs & Perfect Snogging, It's a Wonderful Afterlife, and Viceroy's House previously. The screenplay is by Paul Mayeda Berges, Gurinder Chadha, and Sarfraz Manzoor. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year (read my review). Warner Bros will release Chadha's Blinded by the Light in theaters everywhere starting August 14th this summer. Who's in?

New Trailer for 'Avalanche' Starring Stelio Savante & Autumn Withers

Avalanche Trailer

"Why do you always take his side?" Indie Rights has released a new official trailer for a relationship drama titled Avalanche, which has been confirmed for a release this year. From writer & director Todd L. Green, the film is about a librarian, his wife, and her lover who become trapped in a house together and are forced to deal with the fallout of their indiscretions. This stars Stelio Savante, Autumn Withers, and Gideon Emery in the three lead roles. We featured the first trailer last year, but now that it has distribution they've pulled that and replaced it with another trailer. This looks super low budget, and still feels like a stage play more than a feature film, but hopefully it has enough intriguing relationship drama to pull some viewers in.

Here's the newest official trailer (+ original poster) for Todd L. Green's Avalanche, direct from YouTube:
